Purified Water (PW) can be used in preparation of oral drugs and other non-parental drugs, as a diluent for non-sterile products, for cleaning equipment, as pretreatment in the preparation of Water for Injection and pharmaceutical-grade pure steam production.

Water for Injection (WFI) meets specific standards of sterility and purity defined by the European Pharmacopoeia, as it is used for the preparation of drugs for parenteral administration, both as a vehicle and to dissolve or dilute substances or preparations.

Pure Steam or Clean Steam (CS) can be used for the sterilisation of pharmaceutical equipment and product sterilisation and is produced by a specialised steam generator. Clean steam is a steam that meets the quality characteristics and monographs specified by pharmacopoeias and regulatory authorities for water for injection.
