High-Purity Demineralized Water for Power Plants

In a power plant, demineralized (demi) water is not a utility — it is a process fluid. Its quality directly affects plant efficiency, equipment life, and operational safety.

OVERVIEW

DIW water is used in many stages of the production process; our technologies guarantee its quality. Elettracqua designs and manufactures complete DIW water production systems for energy production (Power).

These are the critical points of use:
  • Boiler Feedwater Demi water feeds steam generators and heat recovery boilers (HRSG). Any trace of dissolved salts or silica causes scaling on heat transfer surfaces and deposits on turbine blades — reducing efficiency and risking costly damage.
  • Steam Cycle Makeup Losses from blowdown, leaks, and venting must be continuously replaced with demi water to maintain the correct water-steam balance and preserve steam purity throughout the cycle.
  • Turbine Washing Gas and steam turbines require periodic online or offline washing with ultra-pure water to remove deposits from blades and restore aerodynamic efficiency.
  • Cooling Systems Makeup In closed cooling circuits, demi water prevents scale and corrosion build-up inside heat exchangers and coolers protecting auxiliary equipment.
  • Chemical Dosing Preparation Reagents used in water and steam conditioning — oxygen scavengers, pH correctors, corrosion inhibitors — are diluted and dosed using demi water to ensure precise, contamination-free injection.
The Standard We Work To

Elettracqua systems deliver demineralized water meeting the strictest international specifications — including ASME, IAPWS, and VGB guidelines — with conductivity below 0.1 µS/cm and silica at parts-per-billion levels.
