The water quality used for pharmaceutical purpose could be defined from the pharmacopoeias or, de-pending from the specific process, could exceed the states values having more stringent parameters. Pharmaceutical waters complying the pharmacopoeias requirements are called compendial water, while waters having specific characteristic defined for a specific process, several times exceeding the Pharmacopoeias limits, are called non compendial water.
